Many residents have contacted me concerned about the future of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH). I've listened carefully to what people have told me is important to them about the QEH, its services, and what they would like to see at our local hospital in the future.

As a result, the State Labor Government is now providing over $270 million to upgrade the QEH. This is the biggest investment in our local hospital and the upgrade will provide;

  • A new, larger state-of-the-art emergency department staffed by specialists 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • All cardiac services will remain along with respiratory and cancer services
  • A new multi-storey car park to make it easier to access the QEH
  • New operating theatre and day surgery suite so we can get the surgery we need at our local hospital

This upgrade builds on the $136 million already invested in the first two stages of the redevelopment by the State Labor Government opened in 2004 and 2009.

Labor has always invested in the QEH and I know how critical it is for our community.

I will always support the QEH, advocate for its services and ensure it always remains in public hands.
