Supporting local jobs

One of my major priorities is to help businesses in our community create more jobs.

In the 2016/17 State Budget, the Government introduced the $10,000 Jobs Accelerator Grants for small and medium businesses for each new job created. Due to the State Budget in surplus we are able to provide these grants to help business grow their workforce.

Businesses that pay payroll tax receive $10,000 per job, and a very small or start up business will receive $4,000 per job. These grants are expected to create 14,000 new jobs over the next three years.

We are also investing in science and innovation funding in our defence industry and in campaigns to help promote local SA products.

I encourage all local businesses to apply for the grant at www.revenuesa.sa.gov.au or contact my office for more information.

Apprenticeship boost

The 2017/18 State Budget the State Government is building on the success of the Job Accelerator Grants by providing an additional $5,000 if a business employs an apprentice, raising the total available amount to $15,000.

$200 million Future Jobs Fund

As South Australia's traditional industries erode, the State Government is stepping forward to support industries that are growing jobs today and creating the jobs of tomorrow.

In partnership with the private sector, the Future Jobs Fund will attract new business and support local industries to grow.

We'll do this by providing $50 million in grants and $70 million in low interest loans to businesses for job creation.

We're also investing an extra $60 million to attract new investment in key industries - to promote job creation, capital investment and increase economic activity.
